Pu Luong & Mai Chau trekking Adventure in 6 Days

MAI CHAU & PU LUONG TREKKING ADVETURE

Day 01: NORTHERN VIETNAM ADVENTURE: Hanoi - Mai Chau - Pu Luong (L/D)

After breakfast, you will leave Hanoi for Pu Luong Nature Reserve via Mai Chau. This scenic drive takes around 4 hours. Along the way, you will pass fields of tapioca and sugar cane as well as rice paddies. You will reach Mai Chau Valley around lunch time. Following lunch in Pom Coong Village, you will continue 22 km further into the reserve where you will begin your trek. After roughly 3 hours of trekking through the sublime park, you will arrive at Hang Village, which belongs to a Thai ethnic minority community. You will spend the night with a local Thai family who will be your hosts in their stilt house. Before dinner, you can stroll around the village to meet the locals and learn about their culture.

Day 02: NORTHERN VIETNAM ADVENTURE: Trek To Kho Muong Village (B/L/D)

This morning you will have breakfast in the homestay before you begin the big trek of the day. Today, you will be walking for around 6 hours on a rocky path running through the jungle. You will stop for lunch in a village along the way. After lunch, you will pass through several Thai Villages before arriving at the village of Kho Muong. As the name suggests, this is a Muong minority village. You will stay here for the night getting to know more about the locals and their culture.

Day 03: NORTHERN VIETNAM ADVENTURE: Trek to Cao Hoong Village (B/L/D)

Today you will have another full day trekking as you climb to the Pu Luong Range. As you walk through the green, rolling range, you will pass through a number of small hamlets and minority villages. After 3 hours of light ascent, you will descend to the village of Cao Hoong, a village of Thai ethnic minority people, where we spend the night in a local home.

Day 04: NORTHERN VIETNAM ADVENTURE: Trek to Cao Village (B/L/D)

Today, you will trek for approximately 6 hours through the verdant countryside. The trek path runs uphill and downhill through forests, rice terraces and scenic villages. On the trek, you may see farmers working in their rice paddies and children on their way to school. You will stop for lunch in a village on the long the way. After a fantastic day trekking, you will spend the night in the Thai village of Cao.

Day 05: NORTHERN VIETNAM ADVENTURE: Cao Village - Canh Nang Town - Mai Chau (B/L/D)

After breakfast, you will trek towards Ma River. The trek is quite gentle as the river sits in a wide-open valley. After 2 hours of trekking, you will reach Pho Doan Town where you will visit the lively local market. Then you will trek along the Ma River, taking in the views of the winding river, rice paddies and water wheels. You will be picked up and driven to Mai Chau for a late lunch. You will stay overnight in Pom Coong Village.

Day 06: NORTHERN VIETNAM ADVENTURE: Mai Chau - Hanoi (B/L)

After five days of trekking through the stunning countryside, day six will be a day of relaxation. You can take a stroll in Mai Chau Valley to meet the local villagers and learn more about their way of life. You will stop for lunch in a local house before driving back to Hanoi. You will arrive in Hanoi at around 17:00 and the package adventure to Pu Luong & Mai Chau with Vietnam Tonkin Travel team will be finished.

• Viet Nam is a developing country whose infrastructure may differ from what you expect in your homeland. Road conditions are poor and accommodation may be basic in mountain region.
• Good weather for trekking time from September until June of the year. We recommend you to bring rain jacket, inner sleeping sheets, walking boots, warm clothes, lamp torch, and toilet papers.
• Occasionally, this itinerary may be amended for reasons beyond our control such as weather and roads conditions.
